11 years after its first installation, RW.24 returns to the roof of the House of Electronic Arts (HEK) with a statement by Prof. Dr. Hans Ulrich Reck.
Back in 2001, Hans Ulrich Reck formulated reflections on the paradigm shift in the relationship between image and art in the age of digital media in his book “Mythos, Medien, Kunst”, which led to the phrase BILD ≠ KUNST. An interview with the author was conducted for the first realization of the wording in 2014 on the roof of the Haus für elektronische Künste (HEK) and continued in 2025 in the course of the renovation. Today, the issues surrounding the conditions of contemporary image production and their consequences for artistic practice are taking on a new urgency in light of the dynamic development of digital technologies. In a current conversation with Hans Ulrich Reck, the considerations of that time are reflected against the backdrop of a radically transformed media environment.
